American Surnames is currently offline for maintenance
Unfortunately, the codebase that the site was built on originally is now incompatible with the server software of our web host.
Rather than fudge it back into operation with a kludgy workaround, we've decided to start from scratch with an all-new site software.
This will take a while to implement. But, in the meantime, you might want to head over to our sister site, British Surnames. Many American surnames originated in the UK, so much of the information there is relevant here, too.
